Bases explained

Ground stake: pushes into grass, sand or soil — the lightest option for lawns, beaches and fields. Cross base: folds flat and stands on hard floors and pavement. Water bag: sits over the cross base to add weight outdoors. Square base: heavy steel plate for the most stable hard-surface display. Every base uses a rotating spindle so the flag turns with the wind.

Pole sets are sized to match each flag shape and height — feather angled, feather convex, teardrop and rectangle. Sections connect without tools. Tell us the flag style and assembled height so we can match the correct set.

Which hardware do you need?

For events on grass, a ground stake is enough. For shop fronts and car parks, use a cross base with a water bag or a square base. For indoor trade shows, a cross base or square base keeps floors undamaged. Many customers keep one ground stake and one hard-surface base per flag so they are ready for any venue.

Request a quote with the flag style, size and quantity you need. If you're also ordering new graphics, choose the full flag product instead — it includes the pole set and lets you pick a base.

Care, storage and getting the longest life

Take the flag hardware down in very strong wind or storms, and let it dry fully before storage to avoid mildew. The fabric can be hand washed in cold water with mild detergent and air dried. Rotating two flags on long outdoor campaigns, or bringing them in overnight, greatly extends their life. Store the hardware in a carry bag so poles stay straight and connectors stay clean.

Matching hardware to your flag

Hardware must match the shape and height of the flag. A feather angled flag uses a different top section than a feather convex flag, and a teardrop flag needs a curved pole that bends over the top. Rectangle flags use a horizontal top arm. When you request a quote, include the flag style, assembled height and, if possible, a photo of your existing hardware so our team can confirm compatibility before sending parts.

If your current flag fabric is worn or faded, it may be more cost-effective to order a complete new flag, which includes a fresh graphic and pole set, rather than buying hardware alone.

Hardware for trade shows and indoor events

Indoor venues often have rules about floors and fire exits. A cross base or square base keeps flags upright on carpet, tiles and concrete without damaging the floor, and folds flat for transport. Most trade show booths use 7 ft to 10.5 ft flags, so choose a base sized for those heights. For outdoor events on grass, pack a ground stake as well so you are ready for any surface.

Outdoor stability tips

On windy sites, always add a water bag to a cross base, or use a square base. Position flags where they are sheltered from the strongest gusts, keep them away from overhead power lines, and take them down in storms. A spinning spindle on every base lets the flag rotate so it does not catch the full force of the wind. Check connectors and poles at the start of each event season and replace any cracked sections.
